I HATE ST VALENTINE’S DAY…

“My valentine’s evening is with the kid’s tonight.” said Nia.

“I’m out with Roman, I really like him but he can sometimes be too in love wid he red self, he best know I’m the princess in the relationship.” sighed Leyla.

Sipping on his herbal tea at Miss Browns Coffee House, Steele said, “I’m not out with Dior tonight, I’m home like you Nia with all my kids both my baby-mothers have dates.”

Sasha assumed, “And you’re out with Sharn, B?”

Benjamin responded, “No she got back with her baby-father, she said it was better for the kids so she’s gonna try again with him.”

“Oh Ben I’m so sorry.” said Sasha.

“So who you with tonight?” asked Leyla.

“Myself.” Ben said uncomfortably.”

Leyla replied, “You know this is why I hate Valentine’s Day, it makes you feel so inadequate if you don’t have someone to share it with.”

“And the pressure of it all.” commented Nia.

“Yeah everyting a ride pon di one St Valentine’s Day to show you love dat one special person but it allows you to disregard the other 364 days of the year a foolish-niss.” groaned Knight.

“You seeing Mr Max Lowman tonight?” Leyla studied.

“Yeah he’s taking me out.” answered Sasha.

“Well just be careful with him.” warned Leyla.

Knight came in saying, “Yeah if you’re getting serious with bad-man, us man will have to have words with him.”

“Yeah I’m with the boys on this one, you was bun bad by him last time.” said Nia.

A vexed Leyla said, “Yeah and she a go back fi part two.”

“No, no, he’s changed.” disputed Sasha.

“Hmmmm!” mumbled Leyla.

“No offence empress but once a dog always a dog.” said Knight.

Nia added, “Yup a leaper never changes it spots.”

Steele asked, “What was up with this guy anyway he talks a good one but he’s so full of sh*t!”

“Yeah and remember he would arrange to meet Sasha and never turn up.” Nia prompted.

“And then he wouldn’t contact you for months…And when he did, you would forgive him, listen to his lame arse excuses and go running back to his bed.” said an annoyed Leyla.

Steele chipped in, “Yes he would promise you the world, lyrics you and you would fall for his verbal diarrhoea, nonsense!”

“Babygirl, you would spend weeks, days and even months trying to figure out this detached distant emotionally unavailable prick.” said Benjamin.

“And it would be the only thing you would chat bout pon di phone, at dinner or wherever we all would meet up, you would just obsess.” said Leyla.

Even more p’d-off, Knight said, “And now she a gwarn back fi more.”

Ben sussed, “The guy is a loser he would never ask about your friends, family, work or you…Remember we found that so weird he just had no depth.”

Steele said, “The guy is sad.”

Sasha now baffled opened up saying, “Lilly Parker did say she thought he was a narcissist.”

“And you’re running back to the narcissist.” said a peeved Nia.

“Max Lowman is your addiction love; remember you heard my man Neo sing the tune to you.” Knight joked.

“Look I know you are all looking out for me and that’s what we, The Six do, we have each other’s back and I know Max was a dick before but I’m telling you, he’s changed and it’s all good now.

“Hmmmm.” muttered Leyla.

The Six were not convinced.

“I think you should have heard what The Black Coffee had to say to you at Nia’s fashion show, I had a good feeling about him.” said Steele.

“He was with his woman!” Sasha belted.

“We don’t know if she was his woman, she could have been anyone but you didn’t hear the man out.” said Leyla.

“Oooh, you’ve change ya tune.” responded Sasha.

Leyla finished, “Well maybe he had a valid reason and I don’t think she was his woman, why would he try to talk to you alone in front of her.”

“True.” Benjamin confirmed.

Knight said eagerly, “Anyway we better kick out of Miss Brown’s Coffee House cos we all need to get home to get ready for tonight and I’m on double duty.”

                                                           ******

Later on back at Miss Satchel’s pad the vocalist Meshell Ndegeocello was setting the mood with ‘Let me have you’ and Max Lowman was starting to put it on.

A knock at the door interpreted the foreplay.

Sasha went to investigate.

Shocked, startled and confused Sasha interrogated, “How did you get through the main entrance?”

“Remember you gave me the code when I came over.”

It was The Black Coffee aka Mr Sterling Freeman with a dozen red roses, chocolates and a bottle of Champagne…Fu*k, I hate St Valentine’s Day!
